After such an amazing experience with our last Stratejoy Book Club Event, I’ve been getting the itch to have telejam with you all! And I’ve found the perfect book.
Why the Book Club?
When I started Stratejoy, one of my main visions was bringing women together to have conversations that they may not being having with their happy hour work acquaintances or other friends by convenience. As time has gone on (over 3 years, eeeek!) I’ve heard more and more often that women lack that feeling of sisterhood — that camaraderie we had in high school or college, but are missing in our life as adults. Whatever happened to good old fashioned girlfriends?! Our last book, MWF Seeking BFF, followed Rachel Bertsche on her journey to find a BFF among the women in her city.
When we had our discussion in June, one of my challenges to all who tuned in was to write their own personal ad for a BFF in your city. I promised to post them all in one spot in hopes to bring more of you together.
I’m now challenging ALL OF YOU to write your personal ad for a BFF. You do not have to have read Rachel’s book to participate. This is open to all of our Tribe in an effort to connect those of you who are craving some true IRL friends right now. After all, you’ll already have one thing in common: being part of the Tribe at Stratejoy.
So, my vision comes full circle, and you have a chance to meet some rockin’ female friends in the process. We all win!
How to Place a BFF Personal Ad:
Reply in the comments below with your short personal ad. The only thing that I ask that you definitely put in your ad is your city/state, so it’s easier for you to see where people are from. Then, be sure to check back and see if anyone replied to your personal ad. Or, reply to those ladies who sound like a good fit. Get creative. Be brief. (less than 50 words if possible) But most of all, be yourself. That’s the best version of you, anyway.
Need an example?: Late Twenty-Something seeking friend for Philadelphia coffee dates, wine tastings, pajama parties, and failed cooking attempts. Hates travel. Loves concerts. Hates cigarettes. Loves gin and tonic. Hates being late. Loves the Investigation Discovery Channel. (That’s Katie’s!)
New mama seeking gal pals in San Diego who love talking about online entrepreneurship, travel, and authenticity. Big fan of spontaneous Sunday barbeques, road trip adventures, and yoga/hiking dates. Enjoys laughing at self, drinking wine, learning random skills. Have baby? Bonus. (Mine! Reply below if interested!)
p.s. If you were a member of the group of ladies who chatted in our first Book Club Event and you submitted a personal ad, feel free to submit it again and make any changes necessary. A lot of things can happen in a few months.

About the Book: (from Amazon.com – because it’s a pretty great overview!)
After losing her high-octane job as an entertainment blogger, Noelle Hancock was lost. About to turn twenty-nine, she’d spent her career writing about celebrities’ lives and had forgotten how to live her own. Unemployed and full of self-doubt, she had no idea what she wanted out of life. She feared change—in fact, she feared almost everything. Once confident and ambitious, she had become crippled by anxiety, lacking the courage required even to attend a dinner party—until inspiration struck one day in the form of a quote on a chalkboard in a coffee shop:
“Do one thing every day that scares you.”
—Eleanor Roosevelt
Painfully timid as a child, Eleanor Roosevelt dedicated herself to facing her fears, a commitment that shaped the rest of her life. With Eleanor as her guide, Noelle spends the months leading up to her thirtieth birthday pursuing a “Year of Fear.” From shark diving to fighter pilot lessons, from tap dancing and stand-up comedy to confronting old boyfriends, her hilarious and harrowing adventures teach her about who she is, and what she can become—lessons she makes vital for all of us.
The LIVE Book Club Discussion With Molly
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, August 21st, 2012. I’ll be hosting a live book discussion where we’ll talk about the book. All you have to bring is yourself + your computer/tablet/way to view the live broadcast + your beverage of choice! Basically, I talk/laugh a lot/pose questions and you all have a lively conversation in the chat section!
How To Sign Up:
RSVP HERE to let me know that you’ll be on the live call. All call details will be sent out to you before the event, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Get More Involved! Join a Live Event:
If you want to make it even more fun, get your girlfriends together for a Tuesday girl’s night! We had tribe members in several cities in the US (and Canada) volunteer to host events for the last event, and would love if you’d get together for this one too! If you wish to take part in the live portion, fill out this form by Friday, August 10th, and Katie will be in touch with you soon after to connect you with other people in your city who would also like to get together and chat live about the book in small (or big) groups.
I just love it when our Tribe gets together IRL and jams together. Your group can log-in to the discussion with me if you like or you can just jam on your own.
Questions? Concerns? Suggestions for our NEXT Book or the Book Club in general? Shoot us an email. We’d love to hear from ya!
Here’s to new friendships, conquering fears, and celebrating sisterhood!
XOXO
