The Moment I Realized Where I Was Going

It’s the start of new blogging goodness here at Stratejoy!

We’re bringing back real time stories from real life women.

This time I’m tapping the incredible ladies of my Elevate Mastermind group to share their dreams, fears, successes and failures with the Tribe.  Not all of them will be writing (since it’s totally not a requirement of Elevate!), but as I found out at our retreat — over half of them identify as writers!  And after getting to known their sassy selves and incredible stories over 4 days in Ojai, I knew we’d all benefit from hearing the ups and downs of their year of ELEVATING!

We’re going on a introduction binge this week — getting you familiar with with the ladies you’ll be hearing from this year.

After that, I’ll be writing early in the week and we’ll be featuring an Elevate Writer each Thursday.

Please join me in lovingly welcoming each of these brave souls!

They are going to be cracking their hearts wide open for us, to remind our entire Tribe that we are never alone.

XOXO

“I have this great on-paper life. But despite my obvious blessings, something didn’t feel right.”

First thing’s first: My name is Lauren, and I am a 28-year-old living in Washington, DC with my husband and our beautiful puppy, Bess Truman. We moved here in August 2012 and six months later bought a condo on Capitol Hill. I love this city – it is dynamic, vibrant, and right at the center of the action. I’m exactly where I want to be at this moment. Sort of.

I have this great-on-paper life. I’m married to a kind, funny, and handsome man whom I love more every day. I am gainfully employed in a job that pays the bills and allows us to indulge in our little luxuries. I own my house and have the vision and the means to make it feel like a home. I am grateful, truly I am.

But despite my obvious blessings, something didn’t feel right.

Dissatisfaction was building – with my chosen career, my health, with my failure to overcome minor obstacles to my goals – and a tiny voice kept asking, “Is that all there is?” Every day started to feel like I was slipping further away from the life I wanted to live.

I wanted to live a life of authentic joy and be surrounded by incredible women who wanted the same authenticity.

I became afraid that I just wasn’t meant to have that life.

As if by divine intervention, this is the moment I found Molly and Stratejoy, and realized that there are others who feel this way, too. ‘

Here were these other women – smart, confident, incredible women – looking for the secret to more joyful living, and someone was telling us that we can and will find it!

I submitted my application for Elevate the very morning that it arrived in my inbox, with butterflies in my stomach and a feeling in my heart that I recognized as hope.

I joined Elevate because I need accountability and I need help.

I joined to be part of a community of like-minded women who believe that there is more out there for us.

I joined because my life is happening now, and it won’t wait for me to catch up.

Even though it is only the middle of February, Thanks to my journey so far with Elevate,  I already know a few things about how this year is going to pan out:

I am going to learn more about myself than I ever have before.

I am going to push myself harder than I’ve ever dared.

Elevate 2014 is and will continue to be the best investment I’ve ever made in myself.

So yes – Elevate is the best investment I have ever made in myself. I am unbelievably blessed to witness the growth and transformation of these women, and to grow alongside them. I hope you will join us, too, as we learn more, push harder, and make 2014 the best year we’ve ever had.
